Die ersten Tage in Bournemouth / The first days in Bournemouth

I guess technically I should choose a different subject for this post, because the day after my arrival I already left for Birmingham. As crazy as the plan seemed when I booked my train ticket for this journey, on that morning I was very happy about doing this. Because even if I was slowly recovering from my emotional chaos from the previous days, I still was far from being happy. Which should change soon, thanks to the convention. Mostly because I was completely busy and distracted from morning till evening, I was among people I knew, and most of all just had a really good time. For starters I was completely stunned about the way Rick Worthy, one of the actors, greeted me. He and I had met for the first time on my birthday at the German Supernatural convention. We had a pretty good talk back then and afterwards kept somewhat in touch via Twitter. He knew I wanted to come to Birmingham, and when saw him there the first time, he basically dropped everything and gave me the biggest hug and asked me so many questions about my move and my new job. During the weekend he even kept telling people about my immigration and how impressed he was with this incredible brave step, as he called it. So he and I talked quite a lot those two days. And yet that wasn't even the most amazing thing that happened to me during that convention. The most amazing thing obviously involves Sebastian. The weekend prior to this convention I had been introduced to him at the German Vampire Diaries convention, and I had hoped he'd at least show some sort of recognition when he sees me again. I mean, this man sees hundreds of faces during these conventions. So, Saturday morning, his first Coffee Lounge, I sit down in the circle of chairs as one chair was still unoccupied. Seb sees me, waves over to me, grins and says "Oh hi there, Ulrike." Lucky me I was already seated, or else I would have been floored. At least I finally was in a really good mood again. Thank you, Seb, even if you will never know how much you have helped me back then.

Und dann war es Montag, 17.06.2013, 10 Uhr.  Naja, genauer gesagt 9:45 Uhr.

And then it was Monday, 17/06/13 10 AM. Well, okay, more like 9:45 AM. I walk into the EIMS building for the very first time, completely suited up. Becky at reception asks me to be seated on the couch, I will be picked up soon. Shortly before 10 AM we are four girls sitting and waiting. Lottie, Fern, Vanessa and I. All newbies. I really get along with Lottie from the start. No surprise, she's from Wales :D and has immediately spotted my little Wales badge attached to my bag. Shortly after ten Giorgio comes to us, and introduces himself as our Induction Trainer. The first two days we will spend mostly with him, getting the Calling System explained, having a tour around the company. Newbies are definintely not left on their own here. Tuesday morning we witness our very first company meeting, during which we actually get introduced to the entire team, and each of us had to briefly say something about themselves. Tuesday afternoon we have a test about the Calling System, which we all pass. Still feeling very proud that I made it 1st place, along with Fern. We both reached 98%. As of Wednesday we are starting into the next round of training and get assigned to different campaigns. Lottie and I end up on the same, as do Fern and Vanessa. But more about that in the next post. Now I just want to show you some more pictures about my hotel and EIMS.
