Die letzten paar Tage / The past few days

Das Wochenende ist quasi rum, Denise ist leider wieder weg. Und wie immer, wenn sie da ist, ist das Wochenende viel zu schnell rum gewesen. Aber es war, auch wie immer, schön, und hat nach all dem Stress gut getan. Auch wenn ein heimeliges Gefühl in dieser Bude nicht vorherrscht. Jedenfalls ist das mein Eindruck.

Naja, im Augenblick brennen gerade anderthalb Dutzend Kerzen, denn hier hat meine Sammler-Kunst eindeutig über alle Stränge geschlagen. Und es verleiht doch eine gewisse Gemütlichkeit, wenn Kerzen brennen. Für mich zumindest. Und ich werde "Ballast" los, den ich nicht mit umziehen werde. Denn Kerzen gibt es auch zu Hauf in Großbritannien.

A propos, leider hat am Mittwoch nie das Telefon geklingelt. Auch habe ich nie eine Email erhalten. Ich schätze mal, das mit dem Job, wegen dem ich kontaktiert wurde, hat sich erledigt. Aber ich habe auch etwas recherchiert, und dabei herausgefunden, dass für diesen Job ca. 16.000-18.000 Pfund im Jahr rausspringen. Bei den Mietpreisen in und um Abingdon ein Ding der Unmöglichkeit. Aber ich lasse mich davon nicht entmutigen. Im Gegenteil. Jetzt weiß ich, mein Lebenslauf wird gelesen, und wer weiß, vielleicht meldet sich mal wieder jemand, und dieses Mal bei einem besseren Angebot. Ich werde auf alle Fälle jetzt dann wieder verstärkt Job-Anzeigen suchen und mich bewerben, das ist mit all dem Umzug und Möbel-Verkaufen etwas auf der Strecke geblieben.

Die BBC-Recruitment-Abteilung hat sich bei mir gemeldet, leider sind die zwei Bewerbungen, die ich bei denen laufen hatte, nun doch mit einer Absage versehen worden. Nichtsdestotrotz kriegen sie morgen wieder eine von mir.

Vor ein paar Tagen habe ich eine Massen-Email rausgehauen. Jetzt dürften wirklich so ziemlich alle von meinen Auswanderungsplänen wissen. Die ersten Antworten sind auch schon eingetrudelt. Die wenigsten sind überrascht. Und natürlich wünschen mir alle viel Erfolg.

Was gibt es sonst noch? Ach ja, am Mittwoch habe ich ein Flugticket gekauft. Wenn also der (meines Erachtens wahrscheinlichste) Fall eintritt, dass ich keinen Job vorab finde, verlasse ich am Mittwoch, 18. September 2013 um 13:15 Uhr Deutschland. Mit zeitlich einkalkuliertem Puffer bin ich dann abends gegen 20 Uhr in Cardiff. Warum mitten unter der Woche? Naja, zum einen waren da die Flugpreise bedeutend günstiger als am Wochenende. Und außerdem kann ich mich dann für 13 Tage im Backpacker-Hostel von Cardiff einquartieren. Ich hege ja die Hoffnung, dass wenn ich letztes Mal meine eigene Wohnung innerhalb von 10 Tagen finden konnte, dass es dieses Mal ähnlich läuft. Und dann könnte ich zum 1. Oktober einziehen. Klingt sich irgendwie nach nem guten und vernünftigen Plan. Aber wer weiß, wie alles letztlich laufen wird.

Wobei es schon irgendwie ein klitzeklein wenig gruselig ist, dass in fünf Monaten schon Oktober ist. Das Jahr rennt schon wieder von dannen. Oh, in 3 Wochen hab ich Geburtstag. Ich sag's doch, die Zeit verfliegt.

Ansonsten tut sich grad nicht soooo viel. Den ersten Tisch habe ich über Quoka verkauft. Der sonstige Verkauf ist grad noch eher schleppend. Aber kommt Zeit, kommen hoffentlich die Käufer. Und wenn alle Stricke reißen, traurigerweise der Sperrmüll als allerletzte Notlösung. Wäre zwar tragisch, aber selbst damit hab ich mich glaub ich schon ganz gut abgefunden. Dafür ist diese förmliche Auswanderungs-Sehnsucht, der Wunsch nach einem Neustart, zu groß...

The weekend is almost over, Denise is gone again. And as usual, whenever she's here, the weekend is over way too soon. But it was, as always, really nice and did me good after all this stress. Even if there isn't exactly a home-y feeling to this place. At least that's my impression.

Well, at the moment I have way over a dozen candles lit, because my gatherer gene has gone way over board here. And lit candles make a place a bit more comfy, at least for me. Moreover I'm getting rid of weight. Weight I don't need to put into boxes and include in my move. Because there are loads of candles in Great Britain as well.

Speaking of which, I'm afraid the phone never rang on Wednesday. I also never received an email. Guess the job in regards to which I was contacted, is off the table. But I did some research and found out that I'd earn about 16,000-18,000 Quid a year. Given the prices for rent in and around Abingdon that's not enough by far. But I'm not letting this discourage me. On the contrary. At least now I now my CV is being read and who knows, maybe at some point somebody will contact me again, then with a better offer. I'll definitely increase my efforts on the job hunt again, because with all the moving and selling furniture and whatnot this has been almost put on halt.

The BBC recruitment department got in touch with me. Sadly the two applications I had sent out have been rejected. Regardless I will send out another again tomorrow.

A few days ago I have sent out a mass email. I guess now almost everybody should be informed about my immigration plans. I have already received the first replies. Only few are surprised. And everybody wishes me good luck.

What else? Oh yes, on Wednesday I bought a plane ticket. If the (which I consider most likely) case happens that I won't find a job before moving to the UK, I'll be leaving Germany on Wednesday, 18 September 2013 at 1:15 PM. I should be in Cardiff at around 8 PM that day. You may ask, why in the middle of the week? Well, for starters, the prices were way lower than for flights during the weekend. Also, I can then check into the backpacker hostel in Cardiff for thirteen days. I have the hopes that given I had been able to procure my own place within ten days last time I have moved to Cardiff, it will be similar again. That way I could move into a home on 1 October. Sounds to me like a good and sensible plan. But who knows how it will all go in the end.

But I have to admit, it's kinda scary that in five months it's October already. The year seems to be almost over. Oh, and in three weeks it's my birthday. Like I said, time is flying.

Aside from all that not too much is happening at the moment. I have sold my first table online. The other stuff I have put up for sale is still available. But I am optimistic that I will find some buyers. And if all else fails I will have to chuck my stuff out, as sad as it may be. But I have made my peace with this. My longing for this immigration, the wish for a brand new and fresh start is just too strong...
